We built Meridian Coffee Co. on a simple, stubborn belief: that the world's most extraordinary coffees — the ones grown at impossible altitudes, by families who've tended the same hillsides for generations — shouldn't only be available to people willing to pay specialty shop prices.
The Map Was Always on the Wall
It started with a map. Not a business plan, not a pitch deck — a map of the world's coffee-growing regions, pinned to a wall, traced with the question: what does it actually taste like there?
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe at 2,100 meters. Colombian Huila after the April rains. Sumatra Mandheling processed in the old wet-hull method that no one else still uses. Each region was a world unto itself, producing flavors that no commercial blend could ever replicate — because blending, by definition, erases the edges. And the edges were the whole point.
The problem was access. The best single-origin coffees lived behind specialty shop counters, $22-a-bag price tags, and a language of tasting notes that felt exclusionary by design. The coffees of the world were available — just not to most of the world.
